Admitting

Prior to reporting for admissions, you should complete any pre-admission testing, blood work, or x-ray that your doctor has prescribed.  For non-emergency (elective) admission, you should report to the Patient Registration Department one day prior to admission to complete any pre-admission tests prescribed by your doctor.  If you need a blood transfusion for major surgery, please contact the Hospital Blood Bank (647-2376) at least 3 weekdays prior to admission.  This is to arrange for blood typing and blood donors and to insure that blood is available on the day of surgery.  The day before your scheduled surgery, please report to Patient Registration to be processed for pre-anesthesia consultation between 1:00pm and 3:00pm.

If you are being admitted to the Hospital for surgery, you may want to contact family and friends to stand by to donate blood for you prior to the Surgery.  The hospital may require additional supply for replacement. If you are scheduled for out-patient surgery, you should report to Patient Registration at least one hour before your scheduled surgery.

Be sure to bring with you:

  • your health insurance card
  • identification cards for Medicaid, Medicare, or the Medically Indigent Program (MIP) which certifies your insurance coverage
  • slippers, pajamas, robe (although the hospital will provide you with a hospital gown)

Please do not bring valuables with you. The hospital will not assume any responsibility for damaged or lost personal items.
